About This Directory

Since 1989, PREP Inc. has been actively training mental health professionals, clergy, and others around the world to become PREP Leaders.  Most of these professionals have years of experience helping couples build strong and happy marriages. Yet, in order to become a PREP Leader, these professionals must complete an intensive PREP course taught by one of the PREP Founders or a specially trained colleague.

This specialized training enables professionals to:

• offer PREP and Christian PREP Workshops to couples in their communities
• use key components of PREP and Christian PREP in their private counseling
• use key components of PREP and Christian PREP in small group counseling.

To date we have trained 13,253 individuals to become PREP Leaders in 28 countries. (See About PREP) Only those PREP Leaders who requested to be included in this directory are listed here.

Please note that while we continue to be impressed with the high caliber of professionals who attend our trainings, we cannot tell you that we know each Leader personally. Nor is PREP, Inc. in a position to be able to formally recommend or endorse any specific Leader listed here.

This directory is a source of information which we hope will be useful to you in identifying individuals who can provide services in a manner consistent with the concepts of PREP.

The services offered by those listed in this directory are defined as follows:

Couples Workshops -   PREP and Christian PREP Couple Workshops are typically 6 to 12 hour classes. The class may be conducted all on one day (such as a Saturday Workshop) or it may be offered over a period of weeks, such as 6 Thursday nights for 2 hours each. There will be one or more Leaders and a number of couples in the group.  You will have private practice time.  There is NO sharing of personal problems with the group.  PREP Workshops are designed to be fun and educational, they are NOT therapy sessions.

Christian PREP Workshops -   are the same as PREP Workshops except that they include Christian teachings along with the PREP material.

Private counseling utilizing key components of PREP or Christian PREP -   Private counseling utilizing key components of PREP or Christian PREP is an opportunity to learn in a private setting. Some listed as offering Private Counseling are mental health professionals who, in addition to using PREP, may provide more comprehensive services in treating mental and/or marital distress. Others provide counseling more specifically limited to communication skills training and other skills oriented aspects of PREP. The counseling setting allows for personal sharing of concerns and an educational experience tailored to your unique needs and wants. If you are interested in private counseling, it is important that you clarify your needs and goals in relation to the services, training, and credentials of the provider(s) you contact.

Small group counseling utilizing key components of PREP or Christian PREP -   Small group counseling utilizing key components of PREP or Christian PREP is something of a combination of counseling and a workshop with a group of others couples like yourself. There is personal sharing and personal attention. As with private counseling, you will need to clarify your needs and goals in relation to the services, training, and credentials of the provider(s) you contact.
