Others we are fortunate to include:

We would like to acknowledge the contributions of many colleagues and students who have helped PREP in various ways over the years. The PREP approach is built upon the foundations of researchers of marriage and family relationships from many fields. In particular, the work of the following individuals has been influential in aspects of our work-and this is only a partial list, for the complete listing would be a chapter unto itself: Susan Blumberg, Clifford Notarius, John Gottman, Don Baucom, Neil Jacobson, Robert Weiss, Gayla Margolin, Andy Christensen, Frank Floyd, Danielle Julian, Kurt Hahlweg, Bernard Guerney, Kim Halford, Norm Epstein, Steven Beach, Dan O'Leary, Amy Holtzwoth-Monroe, Ted Jacob, Jill Hooley, Steven Duck, Cas Schaap, Ted Huston, Gerald Patterson, Pat Noller, Frank Fincham, Tom Bradbury, Peter Neidig, Mari Clements, Chris Heavey, Caryl Rusbult, Mike Johnson, Linda Waite, Sherrod Miller, Janice Kiecolt-Glaser, Kris Lindahl, Antonio Olmos-Gallo, David Olson, Shelle Kraft, Doug Leber, Wayne Duncan, Lydia Prado, Ragnar Storaasli, Kieran Sullivan, James Cordova, Ben Silliman, David Olson, Mari Jo Renick, Brigit VanWidenfelt, Matt Johnson, Doug Leber, Michelle St. Peters, Lydia Prado, Benard Spilka, Ev Worthington, Chris Saiz, Natalie Jenkins, Audi Novak, Pat Burton, Michelle Bobulinski, Laurie Tonelli, Scott Halford, Jean-Philippe Laurenceau, Allan Cordova, Lawrence Kurdek, Ben Karney, James Cordova, Tim Heaton, Vaughn Call, and Peter Fraenkel. The work of some of these people as well as other researchers not mentioned has greatly informed our efforts to help couples.

We also would like to acknowledge those who have worked with us to develop books for couples based on our approach: Susan Blumberg, Savanna McCain, Daniel Trathen, Milt Bryan, Joel Crohn, Janice Levine, Pamela Jordan, David and Claudia Arp, William Bailey, and Keith Whitfield.

We also cannot thank the staff at PREP, Inc. enough for their ongoing support in the effort to reach couples with evidence based materials. Having solid material that can help couples is one thing. Getting it to couples-and those who work to help couples-is quite another. The staff at PREP make this happen. There have been many who have helped us over the years on this staff, our current staff, includes Rebecca Beck, Todd Boyd, Becky Gehrig, Lawrence Ramos, Nick Thayer, and Lucinda Young. A more talented and kind group you could not find.

We also have had the good fortune to connect over the years with many people who have supported us in meaningful ways as our work has developed, including Bill Coffin and his colleagues in the U.S. Navy, and Glen Bloomstrom and his colleagues in the U.S. Army. The chaplains, social workers, and prevention specialists of the various branches of the armed forces have been doing great work for years to meet the needs of service persons and their families. Our hat is off to them all.

Over the years, we have been assisted by a set of bright and energetic research assistants and consultants and others as we have conducted research and dissemination on this approach. The number of these people whom we've been privileged to work with has grown so very large that we cannot list them here, but we deeply thank all these folks who have been so important in conducting our research.

Much of the research reported in PREP has been supported by The University of Denver and The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). NIMH, in particular, has funded a good number of researchers over the years in the discovery of knowledge about how marriage and family relationships. In PREP, we try to inform our suggestions for couples by such research wherever possible. The emphasis in our work on preventing problems before they develop--in addition to treating them--is one that has been shared by the NIMH. Earlier research was also supported by The National Science Foundation.
