PREP - Our Global Reach

PREP founder, Howard Markman, Ph.D. explains the robust relationship of PREP with the U.S. military. He goes on to share how PREP became a global force for relationship education and remains so to this day as he introduces you to PREP's world-wide partnerships. 

Dr. Markman is, along with being a Distinguished
Professor of Psychology at the University of Denver, a widely sought-after expert on marriage and romantic relationships. Some of his interviews and appearances include The Today Show, Oprah, NPR, The New York Times, Time Magazine, Washington Post, Redbook, Men's Health, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today. Dr. Markman has co-authored 12 books including, the best seller, Fighting for Your Marriage. In addition to other speaking engagements, he joins with PREP Co-Developer, Dr. Scott Stanley, and PREP contributor Dr. Galena Rhoades in conducting a yearly PREP in Therapy training.

U.S. Military

PREP is very proud to be working with the U.S. Military. Dr. Markman shares how that work began with the Navy in 1989. We now provide materials and services to all the military branches.


Dr. Markman expresses his excitement over PREP's extensive international reach. Starting with Germany which began using PREP over 25 years ago.


PREP's reach into Scandinavia began in Norway about 20 years ago. Dr. Markman explains how PREP is used in both the Norwegian civilian and military populations.


Widely used across Denmark, PREP and PREP adaptations are used in a large family clinic setting for couples as well in the school systems helping students learn better communication skills.


The PREP program is being disseminated by the government of Singapore. A two-hour version is offered to every pre-marital couple applying for a marriage license. Married couples are offered the full PREP version as well. (English and Mandarin PREP versions)


Heading into South America, PREP is offered by the Chilean Catholic Church in Spanish.


The Columbian Navy has PREP trained facilitators using PREP in Spanish.


Heading down under to the continent/country of Australia, adaptations of PREP are being used in unique ways meeting the needs of remote areas.


iPREP is used by an organization in Israel in their work with couples. They are also working to partner with the rabbinical associations.  


Stretching beyond western religions, traditions, and cultures, PREP is working on providing pre-marital instruction in the Islamic world.
